Aluminium Venetian blinds are lighter, more affordable, and highly moisture-resistant — ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and modern interiors. Timber Venetian blinds are heavier, warmer in appearance, and add genuine natural character. They're best suited to living rooms, bedrooms, and studies away from moisture.
Real timber Venetians are not recommended for bathrooms due to moisture sensitivity. Timber-look Venetians (a composite material) look almost identical to real timber but are moisture-resistant — a much better choice for bathrooms and kitchens.
25mm slats give a traditional, fine-louvre look. 50mm slats are more contemporary, allow more light when open, and suit larger windows better. For most modern Sydney homes, 50mm slats look more proportionate and current.
Yes — closed Venetian slats block significant UV radiation, helping protect furniture, flooring, and artworks from sun damage. This is particularly valuable in north and west-facing Sydney rooms with high sun exposure throughout the year.
Dust each slat with a microfibre cloth or a Venetian blind duster. For deeper cleaning, aluminium slats can be wiped with a damp cloth. Real timber slats should be wiped with a barely damp cloth and dried immediately to avoid warping.
