A straight drop awning drops vertically down over a window, door or the open side of a patio, so it blocks low afternoon sun and gives you privacy. Most homes use folding arm awnings over outdoor living areas and straight drops on west-facing windows.

Yes. Folding arm and straight drop awnings can both be motorised, with a remote or a wall switch, and can be added to the same smart-home setup as your motorised blinds and curtains. Wind and sun sensors are available so a folding arm awning retracts itself in a gust.
Awning fabric and frames are made for outdoor use, but no retractable awning is designed to be left out in strong wind. We size and fix the awning to suit your wall or eave, and recommend retracting a folding arm awning in high wind. If you need something that stays put year-round, outdoor roller blinds are usually the better answer.
Acrylic and PVC-coated awning fabrics in a wide range of plains and stripes, chosen for UV stability and colourfastness. We bring samples to your home so you can see them against your brickwork, render or cladding in real daylight.
Awnings are made to order, so allow roughly two to four weeks from the day you approve the quote and fabric, plus installation. We confirm the timing in writing with your quote.
