How dark will it get?
The fabric stops the light. The fit stops the rest.
Blockout fabric doesn’t let light through — but light still finds the gaps, mostly down the sides of the blind. So the way it’s fitted matters as much as the fabric. At the measure we ask how dark each room needs to be, then fit it to match, and tell you honestly what to expect before you order.

The blockout fabric itself stops the light. How dark the room gets depends on the gaps around it: a blind fitted inside the window frame always leaves a thin line of light down the sides, and a blind fitted over the frame cuts most of that. For a pitch-black room, add a blockout curtain over the blind. We show you what to expect for each window at the measure.
Roller blinds are neat, sit close to the glass and usually cost less. Curtains are softer and warmer, quieten the room, and are darker when hung from ceiling to floor. Many bedrooms have both: a blockout roller for darkness and a sheer curtain for the look. We help you choose at the free measure.
No. The blockout comes from the coating or backing on the fabric, not its colour, so white, cream and light grey blockouts stop light just as well as charcoal and black.
